Letters: Human trafficking, marijuana tax for road funds

Human trafficking not always about sex

To the editor:

00_icon_feedbackI’ve attended meeting where representatives from Zonta have spoken. They say that Myrtle Beach is one of the top ten areas in the world for human trafficking.

One of the most common places (under everyone’s noses) for this to take place is those Asian nail salons. I know women who get their nails done in those places because they’re cheaper and the women don’t talk English so they don’t have to bother with chitchat.

Trafficking doesn’t always involve the sex trade. If Senator [Brad] Hutto wanted to talk to victims, he could no doubt find many in Horry County.

Here’s a swap: Tax marijuana for roads

To the editor:

Legalize and tax marijuana.

I do not use marijuana and never have, but it appears everyone else does.  As long as everybody is using it, legalizing and taxing it would provide much-needed funds for road repairs.
