SCORECARD: On Timberlake, Graham, Loftis, Drummond, DSS

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Thumbs up

Timberlake.  Thank you to Ann Timberlake for long service to the state to promote conservation of our natural resources and statewide treasurers.  We wish you the best as you retire from the Conservation Voters of South Carolina.  More.

Graham.  H00_icon_scorecardats off to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham for saying what a lot of people are thinking about GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s fawning praise for Russian leader Vladimir Putin — that it “unnerves me to my core.”  More.

In the middle

Loftis.  State Treasurer Curtis Loftis met with the state Ethics Commission for seven hours this week over a 2014 complaint.  The public, not a part of the closed-door session, deserves to know a little more about what’s happening.  More.

Thumbs down

Drummond.  We mourn the passing of state Sen. John Drummond, a patriot and statesmen.  Today’s state leaders would do well to emulate his solid example for considering the welfare of the whole state, not petty partisanship.  Rest in peace, senator.

DSS.  Under klieg lights again, the state Department of Social Services ought to be ashamed that it has wasted time and millions of dollars and still not put a computerized deadbeat dad system online.  Maybe DSS is the deadbeat.  FYI:  Guess which state is the only one without the computerized system?
