This couple held hands on the way to vote in Charleston.  Across the state, more than two-thirds of registered voters – some 2,109,808 citizens – cast ballots in the 2012 general election.  In the presidential race, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, who won the national popular vote, garnered 850,629 votes (40.7 percent) in South Carolina as GOP candidate and President-elect Donald Trump’s 1,147,045 (54.9 percent) nabbed votes here.  Other candidates – including homegrown American Party candidate Peter Skewes (3,230 vote) – garnered about 4 percent of the total vote statewide.  (Photo by Andy Brack)
